togethernessa night in september with the decemberists...
this is old stuff but i wanted to put this up ever since that balmy night in september - ha! that sounds poetic... - anyway september 23rd was some night, i tell you. the decemberists have become one of my fav bands over this last year and being at one of their shows for the first time was thrilling and a fab experience.
i stood first row...close to Jenny - she is so funny (you'd think missing a chime on the xylophone wouldn't ruffle her but hell she got frustrated that night, it was so cute to watch). i had a fun time just watching her exchange glances with Nate on every awry tone she played that night. she seemed rather jittery so while singing on a few songs with Colin he looked over to her reassuring everything is ok - what a kind man...awww! very talkative man also: "Soundman, bath the stage in red!" - funny guy, good Jenny warned him that the soundman wouldnt help much with that and it would be rather unpleasant if he did bath the stage in red...oh, Colin!
here's a first vid of the song "engine driver" (3mins38) - one of my favourite songs from the band and rather well performed that night (as expected).
some annoying people in the crowd that night (or maybe just one - but right in front me) singing along louder than the band or screaming wildly at quiet parts of the show, well: thank you, asshole! ;) was the only bad thing i remember bout the show though - u can hear that annoying guy scream at the end of the next vid (which is shakydaky but hey...don't blame me...i was drunk). it's a short recording of Colin performing "of angels and angles" (1mins02) - flap your head to the left please.
if you're not seasick from the last 2 vids here's another one of "the mariners revenge song" (13mins18) - flap head to all sides...don't worry if you get a bit dizzy at some parts (actually when the song finally begins) - Colin spends some time with talking about the wardrobe of Mr. Funk and telling the crowd what to do...oh and that's also the part where John finally has some scenes and finally all the band in one vid! yay hooray...hit it!
the videos might take some time to load (especially the last one) and you might have to switch off your ad-blocks. sound and size of the vids is not that grand but hey...don't complain - you don't have to watch...
anyway...i hope you enjoy the provided stuff! =)
