till death do us part...the last farm
it must be half a year back or so when one night i've seen "Síđasti bćrinn - the last farm" a short film taking place in iceland. director Rúnar Rúnarsson created a very calm and yet highly breathtaking story about an old couple in the solitude of this mystic country. with me being a very idealistic person when it comes to love and all things belonging i guess i am highly susceptible to the motif of a love that can only be ended by adverse circumstances. it's the beauty of romance lasting through wind and rain and instead of begin decreasing only growing stronger with every obstacle taken that i find deeply moving. even if the movie is not directly about this it broke my heart a bit and made me cry (less idealistic people could see this film more as a social plea only). the end is sort of stirring but "the last farm" is really really worth a watch!
am glad i just found it on the interweb (which i couldn't achieve after seeing the movie on tv - so i'm very happy to have found it now, though the person i always wanted to address it to is no part of my life anymore). anyways, i hope whoever watches this won't be disappointed. Kjartan Sveinsson (from Sigur Rós) made the score - in case anybody is wonderin about the music in this short.
